IMAGES & VIDEOSThis time around, everything starts with a dream. The Android falls in love with the Prima Ballerina. But the physical impossibility of this love between these so antithetic beings breaks the only seemingly mechanical Android. As if his soul were exposed, brought to his outside and had become one with it.
This collection re-enacts the romantic side of the Terminator I and IV films. These films are the foundation of a new design that deals with the theme of the man-machine that – contrary to our perception – indeed has feelings.
Protheses, old, defunct machines and old motorcycles have been Miriam Schaafs visual inspiration, which she tenderly contrasts with the ballet and films such as “The Red Shoes”.
Each item of this collection can be taken apart – just like a machine. A coat can be dismantled into a waist coat and a jacket-like frame with sleeves. The t-shirts come with “over-t-shirts” which can either be swoped or omitted altogether. One of the sweaters can be worn either as a v-neck, or, with the corresponding item, as a turtleneck.
The fabrics chosen for this collection range from wool an viscose to silk to cotton as well as polyurethane coating. The colours are black, white, light grey and dusky pink.
The new silhouettes of this collection – more fluid as in the previous ones and designed not only for young men – underline the core idea of I’M A WOMAN YOU’RE A MACHINE: the seemingly antithetic beings of man and woman become one. Or are they truly antithetic, only seemingly unified?
Whereas the collection has only 20 pieces, the multiple possibilities to combine the individual parts exponentiates this number. The parts can be worn as accessories or be integrated into the whole of the collection
