ITEM OF MAY: Trousers “THE NOW” for girls and boys
05 | 2011
SCHAAF for the first time designs trousers in a Girls&Boys-Fit.

ITEM OF THE MONTH in May 2011 are the trousers THE NOW Boys and THE NOW Girls.
THE NOW is the first item by SCHAAF that offers in addition to the usual boys-version a cut for young women that has been adjusted to a girls-fit. This means that this month’s ITEM OF THE MONTH is exclusively available as a pair.
The trousers THE NOW have captivating pleats, a low crutch and a debonnaire fit.
THE NOW stands for the forward movement within progress. Miriam Schaaf again directly relates to her own person and the development of her fashion label. The powdery delicate shade of these trouser is a soothing and encouraging gesture in a gentle struggle against uncertainty. The advent of an alleviating period of transition and the turning point for a tactical vision.
THE NOW is the fifth item of SCHAAF’s first ITEM OF THE MONTH series, which will ultimately consist of six pieces, all of which are exclusively designed for the SCHAAF online store.
SCHAAF did a short Imagefilm for THE NOW :
Directed by: Tobias Knipf
Actors: Astrid Staudinger, Markus Seer
Location: Former S-Bahn-Station “Olympiastadion” Munich

ITEM OF MARCH: “BEWARE”
03 | 2011

ITEM OF THE MONTH in March 2011: the “wrist guard” BEWARE. This “Wrist Guard” is consisting of polyurethane coated sweatshirt fabric, the loops are sewn together.
Wrist guards have already been in use in the Bronze Age. Equipped with a stone splint, it protected the wrists of the archers against the bow string.
The wrist guard BEWARE by SCHAAF will protect its wearer as well–against intimidating looks. BEWARE makes the wearer look tough and seductive at the same time. BEWARE nestles itself around the wrist; it is flexible and will become, by day as well as by night, your constant companion. It absorbs undesired, slight dampness of the hands. BEWARE does not interfere with working on a computer/keyboard, and can also, if you grip it, protect someone else’s hand (leading us back to “bow and arrow”).

ITEM OF FEBRUARY: Sweater “NEVERMIND”
02 | 2011
ITEM OF JANUARY: t-shirt “I REALLY DON’T KNOW”
01 | 2011

In January 2011 “ITEM OF THE MONTH” is the motto T-Shirt with the message “I REALLY DON`T KNOW”. Screen printed on cotton.
I REALLY DON`T KNOW
The motive is not a contribution to the “new German culture of protest”. “I REALLY DON`T KNOW” stands for an attitude of a whole generation. It stands for disorientation in a world of sensory overload and for the question if one´s dreams can ever come true.
This is an uncertainty not marked by desperation, but by confident perplexity.

in the studio…
The slogan has another meaning to the designer Miriam Schaaf:
“I stuck this phrase on the window of my studio in summer 2010, because of too many people asking me what this whole thing is supposed to be.” Not satisfied at all with this answer many would-be buyers became real customers and even fans.
